Representatives from the county’s emergency services will descend on the Stade Open Space next month for the annual Hastings 999 Emergency Services Day.

The event takes place on Sunday, September 14 from 10am to 2pm and is at the RNLI lifeboat station as well as The Stade.

Clive Mayhew, press officer for Hastings RNLI, said: “Every day, hundreds of people in Hastings, Kent and East Sussex respond to emergency calls of all sorts across those counties. For some it’s their job, for others it is something they volunteer to do.

“The thing they have in common is they are all ready, trained and willing to try and keep people safe, and if the worst does happen, simply help them.

“All the emergency services are really keen to show the public just what they do, and the Hastings Emergency Services Day has been specially organised to do just that in what promises to be the largest ever event of its kind in the town.”

Along with Hastings RNLI, organisations which have already confirmed their attendance at next month’s event include East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, SERV Kent and SERV Sussex, which both provide night-time transportation of blood, blood products and other urgent medical items for hospitals, Secamb HART, Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, RNLI Sea Safety Team, Hastings Coastguard, Hastings Voluntary Lifeguard, Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team, Sussex 4x4 Response, ALSAR Search Dogs Sussex, Sussex Search & Rescue, Rother Community First Responders, Pett Level Rescue Boat, AA SORT, RSPCA Mallydams, RNLI Flood Rescue Team and St John Ambulance.
