A family held its annual Allan Keates Memorial Fly Fishing Charity Day in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.

With a full house of 32 people, everyone enjoyed a glorious day of autumn fishing at Brick Farm Lakes, Herstmonceux. The day, run by the Keates family, was a success, as £1,483 in total was raised for the St Leonards hospice.

The overall competition was won by Gary Hunt, with his fish weighing in at a whooping 2lbs 12ozs and John Williams the proud runner up.

Marcia Dart, fundraising team leader at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “We would like to thank the Keates family for continuing to support the hospice in such a wonderful way. Every year the day is such a special event, and this year was no exception. £1,483 is such a wonderful amount and we would like to thank everyone who attended and to everyone responsible for organising such a great day.” If you would like to find out how you can get involved and support St Michael’s Hospice, contact the fundraising team on 01424 445177 or email: fundraising@stmichaelshospice.com.
