The A27 at Selmeston has now reopened after police closed a section to free a man and a woman trapped in a car after an accident near Charleston Farmouse.
A car crashed into a ditch today (Monday November 3) at about 1.25pm, slightly damaging a bridge.
The casualties were released by East Sussex Fire and Rescue personnel and taken to hospital by ambulance.
The extent of their injuries is not known.
The road was shut between the Beddingham and Drusillas roundabouts for 30 minutes while the casualties were extracted.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes
