Hastings and Rother Rainbow Alliance (HRRA) held its AGM on Friday (November 7) in Bexhill.
Debbie Peters, Rother equalities officer, thanked HRRA members for their work and told them that Rother District Council is committed to offering HRRA ongoing support, including flying the rainbow flag over the Town Hall for IDAHOBIT Day.
A new committee was elected and trustees gave an update on projects, including the History Project, Trans Group and other support and social groups. The business meeting was followed by a buffet, raffle and music.
Co-chairman Les Tostevin said: “More than 70 people attended on such a bad weather night, and we are delighted with the turn-out. Local representatives included the police, Rother District Council and East Sussex County Council. A great evening was had by all.”
Co-chairman Nadine West added: “We were very pleased at the turn-out for our AGM. Not only did it demonstrate the support from our members, but also from other agencies. Once formalities were dealt with it turned out to be a very social evening. We hope to continue expanding projects for the future.”
Upcoming news included a photographic competition which is open to everyone - entries must be in by January 31 2015. The categories are rainbows, and dogs and their pals. Each category photograph must be accompanied by a cheque for £2.50 and SAE, and sent to HRRA photographic competition at Ore Community Centre, 455 Old London road, Hastings, TN35 5BH.
