An author has written a book about her once-in-a-lifetime experience as a games maker at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Carol Dennard has spent the last two years penning her book entitled Driving Through Hoops.
Carol worked as a fleet driver during the Games and was so moved by her experiences that she decided to write down her thoughts. She said: “The experience proved unforgettable. This book is a work of non-fiction and covers the detailed process from the initial application, training and daily work schedules right through to the Athletes Parade. My style invites the reader to accompany me as a passenger, to live the experience with me. The decision to commit my memories to writing was prompted not only by my desire to leave a record for my children but also to find, in the retelling of my tale, the answers to a handful of questions. Who could ever believe the vision and organisation that went into the Games? What brought about the sea change in public opinion from navel gazing doubt about its success to reports of a spectacular summer of sport?” The book costs £10.99 and is available emailing: caroldrivingthroughhoops@hotmail.com or from Amazon. Carol will have copies at Three Oaks Christmas Fair next Saturday (Nov 29). There will also be a booking signing held at 5pm on December 6 at Book Busters in Queens Road.
