The last ‘Month of Sundays’ fund-raising event of the season at the Linklater Pavilion in Lewes will be a performance of poetry on April 28.
Author and broadcaster Graham Fawcett will lead ‘Run River Run’, what promises to be a spellbinding evening of verse about the great rivers of the world and the treasure beyond price that is water – the Railway Land Wildlife Trust’s theme for its annual Festival on June 23.

The same weekend sees a fascinating exhibition entitled ‘Ink Flow: Site Specific Monoprints’. The pictures were created at the Railway Land Nature Reserve under the leadership of community artist Crimson Boner.
Crimson said: “The Linklater is a stunning building in which to create art. Every window has a different view because of its hexagonal design. The artists were stimulated by its unique architecture and the surrounding nature.”
The free exhibition runs on Saturday, April 27 (11am-6pm), and April 28 (11am-4pm).
Meanwhile, a fund-raising talk at the venue by life-long railway enthusiast John Hollands proved a triumph. Drawing on personal memories, he explained why and how Lewes became an important railway junction, helped by model maker Brian Taylor.
The event raised £400 and established a modelling group which will create a scale version of the old marshalling yards for display at the Linklater Pavilion.
