Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was bitten by a dog in Seaford.

The 52-year-old victim was walking from Seaford beach up the Seaford Head cliffs at about 7.15am on July 23 when he saw a man with a black Collie-type dog on a lead, approaching him.

As the victim walked past the man, the dog bit him several times. Despite the victim shouting in pain, the owner did not intervene and did not speak to him.

The victim suffered bites to his leg and knee and had to be treated by his GP.

The dog owner was white and in his late seventies with grey hair. He was wearing a baseball cap, a dark Windstopper jacket, shorts, long socks and walking boots. The dog had a white patch on its forehead.

PC Giancarlo Leone said: “The victim tried to walk away from the dog but the animal attacked him and the owner did nothing to stop it.

“We need to speak to the dog owner about what happened. This may not be the first incident of its kind that he has been involved in.

“If you know who or where he is, please contact us.”

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 391 of 23/07, call 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
