A charity set up to support children with life-limiting illnesses realise their dreams has received a cheque for more than £1,000 from Uckfield and District Lions Club.
Last week the Lions presented the cheque for £1,194 to Suzi Mitchell from Taylor Made Dreams. Meanwhile the Uckfield Leos Club from UCTC added another £100 to make a grand total of £1294. The money was raised by holding raffles for giant Easter eggs in 18 local pubs. Lions spokesman Chris Macve said: “Our thanks go out to the landlords and customers for raising so much money.”
Crowborough-based Taylor Made Dreams enables children suffering from serious illneses to achieve things they have always hoped for. The charity also sources and finances individual holistic therapeutic support for families.
It was set up in the memory of, Taylor Mitchell who lost his courageous battle against a terminal condition on September 2, 2011 at just 15. Patron is comedian John Bishop who was Taylor’s hero. In 2008 Taylor was diagnosed with an incurable disease and underwent years of painful treatment. Family friends heard about his ‘Bucket List’ and began a fundraising campaign enabling him to have dream holidays, meet the crew of the Red Arrows, watch West End musicals and meet his favourite football team. Their hard work inspired the national charity which aims to support other children facing similar challenges.
