Nearly £11,000 has been raised for a local children’s bereavement charity thanks to the generosity of customers and staff of Hastings’ Sainsbury’s.

Customers and staff at Sainsbury’s, Hastings, raised £10,872.68 for the store’s chosen charity for the year, the Fellowship of St Nicholas (FSN) project Dragonflies - a St Leonards based charity which helps local children and young people aged 5-18 years cope with pre-bereavement and bereavement.

The money was raised at the local store by various fund-raising activities over the past year.

Sainsburys Deputy Manager Theresa Nookes presented the cheque to Chairman of FSN, Mollie Green at a special tea party held at the St Nicholas Centre on London Road. The event also recognised the work and dedication of the team of volunteers at FSN.

Stephanie Edmonds, FSN Operations Director said: “FSN thanks staff and customers of Sainsburys who were exceedingly kind and generous in their giving to Dragonflies during the year. Despite being part funded through the Big Lottery Fund, FSN still needs to raise £18,000 per year in order to be able to provide this valuable and free service to local children and their families.” For more information visit: www.fsncharity.co.uk
