Youngsters and their families enjoyed a fun day out as the third Come Play in the Woodland event was held at Speckled Wood.

The Friends of Speckled Wood Management Trust with the help of Ore Church Mice and In2Play held their event on Friday, July 18.

Activities were run by Ore Church Mice Pre-school and In2play kept the children happily playing with their parents in the woodland.

A mixed range of activities were on offer, including face painting and refreshments and cakes from Kelly Pelaou.

Children decorated cakes, made dream catchers, as well as rock gardens.

Martin Newbold, from the Friends of Speckled Wood Management Trust, said: “We would like to thank everyone who came and joined in this event and everyone who made it possible. It was very successful and around 100 children and parents attended.

“Some of the dream catchers where left in the trees so that visitors could see that something had occurred in the woodland. The trust welcomes In2play and hopes now it has seen the potential in the woodland and that it will become more involved with activities in the Public Open Space as legally set up by the General Development Plan 1930.”
