A network for young people’s organisations, SPARK, has announced the launch of a new scheme to help young disabled people in Hastings to make new friends and enjoy social activities.

The Life More Ordinary Grant Scheme, for disabled people aged eight to 19 make new friends,is aimed at encouraging organisations and projects to include young disabled people in their activities. The money for this scheme comes from East Sussex County Council’s Short Breaks Service for children and young people with disabilities.

Lisa Drupal, of SPARK, said: “It is very important that the views and opinions of young people are reflected when applying for this grant. We will give priority to applications that provide strong evidence that young people have been actively involved in the ideas and planning of this project where possible. The panel that will be considering these applications will include young people who are disabled.”

Applications are welcome from any voluntary, community or statutory organisation in Hastings and the deadline is Monday, September 29. For more details visit www.sparknetwork.org.uk.
