Police in Seaford are warning residents to be on their guard following a spate of vehicle crime in the town.
Overnight between Tuesday (January 27) and Wednesday (January 28) vehicles parked in roads all over the town were targeted, including Marine Drive, North Way, Duchess Drive, Southdown Road, Surrey Road, Buckle Drive, Sutton Road, Bishopstone Road, Meadow Way, Mason Road and Tide Mills Way.
It is thought that at least 20 vehicles were searched and for the most part only small amounts of cash were stolen.
Sergeant Stuart Mullins said, “We are appealing to the public for their help in identifying those responsible and it is thought that the offences took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
“We are also warning all car and van owners to make sure that their vehicles are securely locked at all times even when on their driveways and to ensure that they do not leave any valuables or bags in them.
“At least some of those entered were not locked and yet again I would urge all owners to make sure they always lock all of the doors and close the windows, no matter where they park them or where they live. Also if you see or hear anything suspicious during the night or at any other time contact the police straight away on the emergency number 999”.
If anyone has any information about the thefts, please contact Sussex Police via 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 139 of 28/1. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
