The inquest into a man believed to have been electrocuted after falling onto a live rail line in St Leonards has been adjourned until a later date.
A hearing into the death of 46-year-old Roger Lower, of Amherst Road, was set to be heard this afternoon (Wednesda, January 28) at Hastings Magistrates’ Court.
However an application by the Office of Rail Regulation was made asking for the inquest to be put off until a later date so a jury could be sworn in.
Mr Lower died on May 24 last year at around 3am while he was cleaning a train at the West Marina depot in Cliftonville Road, St Leonards.
Sussex Police, South East Coast Air Ambulance Service, British Transport Police and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air Ambulance were called to the scene.
He was an employee of Wettons Cleaning Service which is contracted by Southeastern to clean trains, and the West Marina depot is owned and managed by the train company.
The depot is used to clean and repair trains during the night.
Routine maintenance work was being carried out when Mr Lower died.
The date as to when the inquest into Mr Lower’s will be heard is as yet undecided.
