An off-duty paramedic was airlifted to hospital after a collision involving a motorised scooter and a van.
Now, Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses to the crash.
Emergency services were called at 12.30pm on Monday (March 30) to Victoria Drive, after the motorcyclist, who was a 63-year-old Eastbourne man and paramedic, was seriously injured.
He sustained arm and leg injuries and was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed the injured man was a paramedic.
“He is still in hospital, but thankfully he is not in a life threatening condition,” said the spokesman.
“Our thoughts are with him and his family ,and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
Sussex Police, the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance and the South East Coast Ambulance Service were all at the scene, after the collision at the junction with Broomfield Street.
An orange Ford Transit van and a ‘motorised scooter’ were in collision at the junction.
The 33-year old Eastbourne man driving the van was unhurt.
The road was closed for around 90 minutes while the rider was treated and taken from the scene.
