A Seaford brother and sister are taking on a series of challenges on both sides of the Atlantic to raise money for Chestnut Tree.
Dan Lyons and his sister Hannah Lyons, are completing a ‘Year of Pain’ in aid of the children’s hospice.
The duo will take on Ultra-Marathons, Iron-Man competitions and the Marathon Des Sables, which is otherwise known as the toughest foot race on earth.
In 2013, Dan completed a ‘Year of Pain’ which included various running challenges, including the Brighton Marathon, Tough Guy, Nettle Warrior, Tough Mudder, Run to the Beat and the New York Marathon, and raised £23,000 for the children’s hospice.
“The 2013 Year of Pain felt epic,” Dan said, “but now we want to push ourselves harder and further than ever before. And of course, raise even more money for this important local charity. I could not bear the thought of losing my daughter Olivia, but it is amazing to know that there is a charity on our doorstep which supports families faced with just that.”
Dan has already completed a 50 mile Ultra-Marathon across the Downs from Worthing to Eastbourne, and Hannah has taken on a half-Iron Man and full Iron Man competition in the USA. The pair also ran the entire length of Hadrian’s wall in June, a feat that saw them run 69 miles in around 19 hours.
